The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET)
The Institution of Engineering and Technology, formally known as Institution of Electrical Engineers, is one of the world’s leading professional societies for the engineering and technology community. The IET has more than 150,000 members in 127 countries and offices in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific. The IET provides a global knowledge network to facilitate the exchange of ideas and promote the positive role of science, engineering and technology in the world. The Kolkata Network is located in the City of Joy, the vibrant metropolis of India. It is the only city in India which had nurtured five Nobel laureates. Being the oldest in India, the Network is proud of its history. Its origin dates back to 1944 when good number of British Engineers had taken initiative to form the then Calcutta Centre of The Institution of Electrical Engineers.
MCKV Institute of Engineering has a strong student chapter of IET (UK) consisting of around 600 student members. This institute has the highest student membership in Kolkata Local network of IET (UK). MCKV Institute of Engineering has organized a number of National and International Conferences, Seminars, Workshops and Invited Lectures in collaboration with IET (UK), wherein experts from both academia and industries have visited this institution to address and groom the students. Students of this institute are also benefited with some industry visits, hands on workshops, technical fests, model competitions, article presentation competitions organized by this institute in collaboration with IET (UK).
