A social metamorphosis is taking place, heralding the emergence of an Information Society in which anyone can acquire and exchange information at anytime, anywhere. In modern times the range of communication tools and devices are numerous starting from telephone modes to satellites, computers and internet video streaming, to name but a few. Without the advancement in electronics, these would not have been possible. Herein lays the basic importance of the discipline.

Established in 1999, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is enriched with qualified and experienced faculty members with several years of exposure in Electronics and Communication Engineering and its allied fields. The faculty members are also pursuing research work regularly followed by national and international publications in their credit. The department is equipped with more than 23 full-fledged state-of-the-art laboratories which cater to the needs of producing highly trained and competent engineers who are already proving their quality and worth the present-day global market.

The department boasts about its well equipped Electronics and Communication Engineering Laboratories, such as Microwave Engineering, Communication Engineering, Advanced Communication Engineering, VLSI Design, Analog & Digital Electronics, Digital Signal Processing, Microwave and Simulation Laboratory. All of the laboratories are furnished with most up to date latest instruments and tools.

The department conducts one B. Tech Programme in Electronics & Communication Engineering and also one post graduate programme i.e. M.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering.


B. Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering

Electronics & Communication Engineering Department is one of the oldest and premier departments of MCKV Institute of Engineering and is associated with the institute since the inception in 1999. The department offers B. Tech degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering. The department was one which was accredited by the NBA visiting team for the period 2009-2012 and again 2016-2019.

The students of this department are well placed in reputed organizations in India and abroad. Some of them pursue higher studies in different national and international institutes of repute. They also participate in different national and international engineering design competitions viz. Eastern India Science and Engineering Fair (held in BITM), Tech fest of Several IITs and NITs, INFOCOM etc and win many prestigious prizes on regular basis. In the recent past, our students got the “Best Applied Technology Prize” and “Best Consolation Prize” in BITM, 2012.

TECHNOTICA: in House project Competition is organized yearly beside workshops, invited Talk, seminars are frequently organised to meet the Curriculum Gap. We also organize industrial tour for students.

Our B.Tech program has received MODROB fund of Rs.7 lac from AICTE for development of Communication Laboratory.

MATLAB (Latest Version) with all toolboxes has been purchased for Digital Signal processing and Control system laboratory.

Pure MCU Lab has been developed under the collaboration of Texas instruments.

Qualnet software has been purchased for research and project work.

TMS series DSP starter kit has been purchased to enhance the quality of Digital Signal Processing Lab.

MSP series microprocessor, TIVA C series microcontroller and wi-fi booster pack are installed to upgrade the microprocessor lab as well as the embedded system lab. IOT based project works can also be done with the help of these kits.

Intake Capacity: 60 [80% students are admitted from WBJEE, 10% from JEE (MAIN), 10% from Management Quota] + 3 students are from TFW Quota.

Additional 12 Students are admitted in 3rd Semester through JELET.

M. Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering

Keeping precisely the above important aspects of Electronics and Communication Technology in view, we very rightly introduced in 2008 the M.Tech Course with specialization in Communication. The course has been designed in such a fashion that the new generation engineers will be able to upgrade their academic acumen in a professional environment with a drive for advanced research works. The Department has separate laboratories for M. Tech & has sophisticated equipments for carrying out experiments for the laboratories. Special software like HFSS, are available in the lab for carrying out advanced level of research work in M.Tech.

Students from this specialization have secured very high rank in the university. After completion of M.Tech Students join the teaching fraternity as Assistant professor, get admitted into premier research institution in the country. Also they get jobs in top-notch companies during campus placement. Students having degree of BE / B.Tech / M.Sc(Electronics) or Equivalent can pursue this course.
