Automobile Engineering

MCKVIE is the pioneer in establishing Automobile Engineering Department in Eastern India in the year 2003. The department offers AICTE approved 4 year BTech degree program in Automobile Engineering under the affiliation of MAKAUT. With the help of young and dynamic faculty members, the department imparts quality education and nurture innovative mind of the students in the area of product design, functional utility and integrated technology used in making of new generation vehicles.

The Automobile Engineering Department under MCKV Institute of Engineering boasts of state-of-the-art laboratories that include Engine Testing & Pollution Measurement Lab, Auto Scanning Lab (including various set-ups as Wheel balancing, Wheel Alignment, Headlight focusing etc.). In addition to this, basic laboratories such as Chassis Components, Engine Components, Vehicle Maintenance Lab and others are also available.

The department has developed many industry attached lab in association with Logiczap NextGen Technologies (EV Lab), Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles, Bosch Limited, BMW India, Hyundai Motors and Dassault systems for imparting quality training as per the needs of the industry. The students are exposed to the knowledge of Electric Vehicle, Automotive Electrical & Electronics and BSVI Engine Technology which increases their acceptability in the market. The State-of-the art MCKVIE-Eicher Centre for Automotive Technology was running since 2012, BOSCH-MCKVIE Joint Certification Centre was running since 2018 and Logiczap NextGen-MCKVIE Joint Centre for EV was running since 2021. By virtue of membership with Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) India, our students design and manufacture their own vehicle to participate in national level competition organized by SAE India namely, BAJA-SAE, eBAJA, SUPRA-SAE and EFFICYCLE every year and won many accolades for their performance in those events. Alumni of the Department are working in all leading automotive companies, manufacturing organizations and automotive insurance sector.

Automobile Engineering is a fast moving sector requiring engineers who are conversant with the concept of product design, functional utility and integrated technology used in the manufacture of an automobile. Students of MCKV Institute of Engineering are trained with the relevant competencies and skills to find their niche in the industry. After the completion of this course Automobile Engineers are equipped to apply their skills in their careers.

The new curriculum of B.Tech Programme has been updated with the introduction of hybrid and electric vehicles, electronic vehicle management systems, Noise, Vibrations and Harshness, Machine learning, IOT etc. Latest versions of design and analysis softwares such as CATIA, CREO, AutoCAD, ABAQUS and ANSYS etc. are available in the Department.

The students of B-Tech Automobile Engineering from MCKV Institute of Engineering are encouraged to undertake innovative experiential projects like development of Paddle powered water purification system, Amphibious vehicle, Bio-diesel generating mini plant, and experimental set-ups for measuring Centre of Gravity of vehicle among many others.
